Adopting a dog...
Step 1

Look at a listing of currently available dogs (on the right-hand side of every page of this web site).

Match-a-PetIf you do not see a dog you are interested in, but still wish to adopt a dog from this rescue, with all included benefits, consider waiting until a dog your are interested arrives or use the Match-a-Pet program. (This program is discontinued at this time.)

We do stress that waiting a couple of months for a pet that may be with you for 10+ years is a wise investment in time.

Community DogsIf you would not like to wait or make use of the Match-a-Pet program, please consider a dog from our Community Dogs page where dogs are posted from other shelters, rescues, and private individuals.

Step 2 You will want to learn more about this rescue before adopting from us. Please view our Frequently Asked Questions, Policies, About Us, Our Vets, and What We Do pages. Also, view our Alumni by year beginning in 1998.
Step 3

If you see a dog from this rescue that you would like to adopt or if you would like to utilize the Match-a-Pet program, please fill out an online application.

Please note that you should not fill out an application if you are interested in a dog from the Community Dogs page. Contact information for each Community Dog is posted on the Community Dogs page. Community Dogs are are adoptable through groups or individuals outside of this rescue organization.

You must fill out an application before you contact us.

Note that most of your questions having to do with adoption benefits and fees will be answered in the online application before you fill out any information about yourself.

Elizabeth Riddle, our rescue president, outside of her full-time job and continuing educational pursuits, is an animal behaviorist and an obedience instructor, with a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Illinois with a specialty in Ethology (the study of animal behavior). She officially founded this rescue in November of 1997 while attending the University of Illinois. Learn more about this rescue...
