I am so sorry to report that we lost our beautiful Dottie yesterday. We feel like someone has just ripped our hearts out. She was hit by a truck just down our driveway.

We are so heartbroken. We loved her so much, and everyone that knew her always said "Dottie, she is all about love, isn't she" and that described her to a tee. Always seeing the good in the world and always excited about every new day. She would wake us up very early every morning, usually between 4 and 6 am to go sit outside and watch the new day come in, the neighbor girl get on her bus for school, and to just enjoy her world.

She loved to help and herd the horses to where they needed to be as we turned them out to pasture every morning, and of course playing with our house cats. Our youngest cat, Lucy, and Dottie would play all day. We are truly sick to report this to you, but please know that we tried our best to give her a wonderful life. We played everyday, and everyday I told her how lucky we were to have her and how much we loved her.

I cannot believe that our happy little Shepherd is gone. Thank you for the joy that was Dottie for these past 2 1/2 years. She was a giant ray of sunshine!

She is such a joy in our lives---she has stayed very snuggly and loves kisses. Her older sister Virginia and her play for hours---they quite loud with there barks and growling while they play. They enjoy chasing the sparrows in the barn and Dottie loves to walk the horses out to pasture every morning. Dottie has become good friends with our youngest horse, Iris. I will see if I can get a pic. of them "talking". She is such a happy young dog, always a smile on her face and ready to be loved at a moments notice!

Dottie is doing great at 14 months. She keeps us on our toes with her endless energy. Dottie fully believes she is in control of the horses, but we know they just let her think that. We often see Dottie running with the herd. I do believe she was a horse in a past life! She is a complete joy and one of the happiest dogs I know. Her enthusiasm for life is definitely contagious as it is hard to have a bad day with her in our lives!

Spring

Adopted October 9, 2003

Spring (renamed Dottie) was born 7/29/03. Her and 3 others from her litter came into rescue together. Two black and tan two fawn with black masks and four very distinct personalities! The largest fawn was the pack leader. She was very intelligent and curious. She would give her future owners the greatest rewards in obedience and training. She was always looking for something to do and to lead her sisters around on adventures. The smaller fawn was a absolute doll. She was very affectionate and searched for love and approval. She stuck close to her sisters for reassurance and support. The black and tan with the tan mask was very affectionate and would come up to you to get attention. She was a cuddler and a smoocher. She wanted to be loved and let you know it. She had a very nicely balanced personality. The black and tan with the darker mask was very sweet and lovable, but a bit more secure in herself and would check things out herself. She was a good dog and would be great for someone wanting a loyal loving pet, that could entertain themselves if when their owner is busy, rather than being under foot, glued to your side for the next 16 years.
