Well, Lucy & Adam are doing just fine. Lucy has settled in beautifully, with just a couple of bumps in the road. Although our yard is fenced, she seems to be able to telescope her body so she can get through our pole gates and run down and visit the gsd Sable next door. After much frustration, we finally solved the problem by attaching short decorative garden fencing to the gate. Now she's the one who's frustrated!

Just wanted to wish you all a very peaceful and happy holiday season! Lucy
is doing great - just a slurpy wiggle butt!

As you can see, she has more than made herself comfortable here! She is just
a joy to have around, and she loves everybody.

Lucy is wonderful! She has been the best thing in the world for [our other
dog], Adam. They go outside and run and play and flip each other over and are
the best of buddies. She has even calmed him down on car rides, which he really
does not like. Then, after a romp in the yard, and chewing on sticks, they
come in and both take turns climbing onto my lap! She also loves to be brushed
and will stand as long as you are willing to continue brushing and has gotten
Adam to do the same, which has cut down on the GSD hair bunnies on the floor.

Lucy spent the evening watching TV with mom and dad after working things out
with Adam (the other family dog), then went into her crate for a well earned
night's sleep.
Lucy will be seeing her new vet friends on Tuesday or Wednesday just to get acquainted.

Adopted September 2005
Mama Lucy was a 2-3 year old female. She was a small, beautiful, baby girl. This poor thing has seen it all and didn't even attempt to do anything but get more cuddles. We weren't sure about her story, but her alleged history was that she showed up very skinny at a rural household who tied her up and fed her. That household was then moving into town and couldn't take her with them. In this same amount of time she managed to become pregnant and deliver a very large litter of puppies.
Still excruciatingly thin, this mama was now free of her kids and looking to have a happy ending to her sad story. However, once again, her bad luck only gets worse. Too often we have recited these words: this dog is heartworm positive. She weighed only 51 lbs, but the veterinarian ruled that she didn't have enough muscle to safely treat her for the heartworms. We went ahead with the treatment with the help of a lot of loving sponsors and one loving forever home.
